The competition-winning project "The Rolling Stones" draws its initial planning and archictectural inspiration from the neighboring terraced settlement nearby and the natural curves of the terrain. The buildings are embedded in the natural landscape and fall line of the slope. They are polygonal in shape - allowing for optimal orientation, lighting, outdoor space and privacy for all apartments.
Ten buildings encompassing a total of 42 residential units are set to be developed. The apartments will offer spacious layouts and outdoor spaces. The surrounding area is free from traffic, creating an inviting atmosphere for relaxation.

The residential development is situated on an elevated, sunny slope above the village centre. Adjacent to the agricultural zone and the residential quarters of Eichelacker I, Embergrain and Klosternhubel, the location offers an ideal starting point for nature walks and various biking routes. Due to its proximity to the other residential quarters, it also offers a wonderful family-oriented environment.
Nestled in the pre-Alpine hilly landscape at the gateway to the Bernese Oberland, Steffisburg is an open-minded, attractive town with over 15,000 inhabitants.
Steffisburg is one of the largest municipalities in the Canton of Bern.
Direct access to the A6 motorway, optimal public transport, and the proximity to the centre of Thun (reachable in a few minutes), Interlaken and Bern (approx. 30 minutes) makes Steffisburg a desirable location for both living and working.
Lake Thun, the River Aare and the renowned ski resorts in the Bernese Oberland offer summer and winter sports attractions nearby. Steffisburg is located in a former bay of the prehistoric Wendelsee lake. During heavy rainfall, the Zulg River, originating in Innereriz, often turned into a raging river, forming a triangular land area over time. Steffisburg shares its borders with the municipalities of Thun, Homberg, Fahrni, and Heimberg.
