Description

The Herreney development is situated in the Bernese Oberland on the peninsula that separates the shipping canal from the Aare River between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. The site is located within the municipality of Interlaken, right on the border with Unterseen. The project emerged from a competition and subsequently integrated into the official zoning plans. The first of three stages of construction work began in spring 2017 after relocation of the main "Bödeli" sewage line (dating back to 1912). The competition required elevating the entire site by approx. 1.20 m in order to minimise material removal and avoid problems with groundwater levels (on average approx. 2 m lower than the original terrain, or 3.20 m below the finished terrain). In summer 2018, the flood protection project of the Bödeli Water Threshold Cooperation was also completed with a partial renaturation of the Aare River. The first stage of development, comprising 45 condominiums and 37 rental apartments, was completed at the end of 2018.

Initially, the construction and decision for detailed planning of the second stage hinged on achieving a 90% sales or rental rate for the first stage. By the end of 2017, it was evident that we were on track to meet these objectives. As a result, we submitted the building application for Stage II before the end of 2017. The procedural timeline anticipated a building decision by May 2018. There were no objections, and we received the building permit in August 2018. The plan included 74 apartments spread across 9 buildings, featuring 21 rental units in 2 courtyard houses. Construction started in the spring of 2019.
