History

Peter Hauenstein is set to begin his well-earned retirement in October 2023, yet he will continue serving as the Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Peter Hauenstein entrusted the operational management to his twin daughters Andrea and Nathalie Hauenstein and Daniel Eschmann at the beginning of November 2020.

The Deltapark Vitalresort in Gwatt near Thun was completed and officially opened 8 years after acquisition of the land. The total investment comes to the upper two-digit million range.

Daniel Eschmann has been appointed as operational manager alongside Peter Hauenstein.

Peter Hauenstein acquired the Gwatt Centre with 86,000 m² of land on Lake Thun and developed it into today's Deltapark Vitalresort with lakeside villas and lagoon. Today, the Deltapark Vitalresort is managed under the umbrella brand Hauenstein Hotels, which is part of the Hauenstein Group.

Walter Hauenstein died in 2005.

Peter Hauenstein - Walter Hauenstein's son - officially took over the management of the company on its 50th anniversary.

In 2001, W. Hauenstein Immobilien AG acquired the entire Hohmad Park site. The old farmhouse at its heart was completely renovated by Hauenstein Immobilien AG (formerly WHI AG) and converted into a restaurant: today's  Burehuus Restaurant. Today, the Restaurant Burehuus is managed under the  Hauenstein Hotels umbrella brand, a division of the Hauenstein Group.

In 1998, W. Hauenstein Immobilien AG acquired the Solbadhotel in Sigriswil. It has been successfully managed by the Wicki family since 2000. Today, the Solbadhotel is managed under the umbrella brand Hauenstein Hotels, a division of the Hauenstein Group.

In 1997, W. Hauenstein Immobilien AG purchased the Belvédère Strandhotel, from the Swiss Master Butcher Association after they constructed the ABZ. All necessary investments were made and the hotel was reopened in 1998. Today, the Belvédère Strandhotel is managed under the umbrella brand Hauenstein Hotels, a division of the Hauenstein Group.

Since 1991, Hauenstein Immobilien AG has been a 100%-owned subsidiary of Hauenstein Invest AG. Hauenstein Invest AG is theHauenstein Groupparent company. It does not perform any operational activities, but acts as the financial link within the entire Group structure.

Due to two serious illnesses of Walter Hauenstein, his son Peter took over the emergency management on an interim basis while he studied to become a Bernese advocate.

The Grizzlybär Country Inn, steeped in history, was taken over from the Berner Kantonalbank by W. Hauenstein Immobilien AG after several bankruptcies. The Grizzlybär Country Inn is now managed under the umbrella brand Hauenstein Hotels, a division of the Hauenstein Group.

The sole proprietorship was transferred to the public limited company W. Hauenstein Immobilien AG (today Hauenstein Immobilien AG).

In 1968, Walter Hauenstein acquired the Hotel Krone in Thun after a request by the then mayor of Thun. Today, the Krone is owned by his eldest son Urs Hauenstein, who also owns and runs U. Hauenstein Heizung Lüftung und Sanitär AG.

Walter Hauenstein (*24.5.1930-10.3.2005), born into a working-class family, founded the small business - laying the foundation for today's Hauenstein Immobilien AG's 60-year success story.
